About the Role

The Unit Assembler role assembles tight‑tolerance air‑end assemblies for internal and OEM customers, performs air and functional testing, and ensures conformance to engineering drawings and specifications. The position reports to the Value Stream Leader – Unit Assembly and works at the Michigan City manufacturing plant. Assemblers work independently or in teams to build high‑quality air ends, read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and bills of materials, and use hand and power tools to complete assemblies. They conduct quality checks, document defects, rework or repair equipment, operate forklifts and overhead cranes, and maintain equipment through work orders. Participation in TPM, 6S events and cross‑training on all models is required. • Assemble high‑quality air end assemblies using drawings, blueprints, and work instructions. • Perform precision measurements with dial indicators, micrometers and specialized tools. • Conduct quality checks, identify defects, document issues, and rework as needed. • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other powered industrial vehicles safely. • Maintain equipment, submit work orders, and participate in TPM and 6S events. • Execute computer transactions for inventory control and data entry. • Cross‑train on all unit models and assist with additional assembly tasks. • Follow safety standards, wear required PPE, and report hazards or injuries promptly.

What You Bring

Candidates must have a high school diploma (mechanical certifications are a plus) and at least three years of experience in tight‑tolerance assembly, preferably in machine, automotive, marine or aerospace environments. Strong mathematical ability, proficiency with precision measurement devices, and basic computer skills for spreadsheets and data entry are essential. The role demands high energy, the ability to lift up to 35 lb (use a lift for heavier loads), stand and walk for eight hours, and adherence to safety standards, PPE requirements and EHS procedures. • Lift up to 35 lb (use lifting device for heavier loads) and stand/walk for eight hours. • Hold a high school diploma; 3+ years tight‑tolerance assembly experience; strong math, measurement, and computer skills.
