About the Role
Key responsibilities include developing flow diagrams, performing heat‑load and static‑pressure calculations, and sizing equipment and ductwork for mechanical systems. For electrical systems, the engineer will design basic one‑line risers, specify fire‑alarm devices, develop lighting and control plans, and determine power and feeder requirements. Plumbing duties involve selecting appropriate fixtures, designing pipe sizing and routing for sanitary, storm, gas, and domestic lines, and ensuring proper venting and service sizing. BL is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) projects at its Wilmington, NC office. The role involves overseeing the mechanical engineering aspects of MEP projects from concept through completion, ensuring compliance with industry standards and delivering high‑quality designs. The ideal candidate brings more than eight years of MEP engineering experience and will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while mentoring junior engineers. Candidates must have at least eight years of MEP engineering experience and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; a PE license is preferred. Required skills include strong technical aptitude, project management ability, proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, and excellent written and verbal communication. Knowledge of federal and state codes governing MEP design is essential. • Require 8+ years of MEP engineering experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; PE license preferred. • Strong technical aptitude, project management skills, and proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD. • Excellent written and verbal communication; knowledge of federal and state MEP codes.
