About the Role

Reporting to the Asset Management Board, the manager will lead the growth strategy by promoting and securing new business across the expanding suite of products and services. They will develop a clear Business Development Plan, target high‑margin opportunities and leverage synergies across the organisation. The position involves strategic planning, market intelligence gathering, client acquisition, proposal development, cross‑functional collaboration and performance monitoring. Success will be measured against SMART targets such as pipeline health, market penetration and customer engagement effectiveness. • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan targeting high‑margin opportunities. • Conduct market research and competitor pricing analysis to inform growth initiatives. • Identify, acquire and nurture relationships with high‑value clients to secure profitable projects. • Lead proposal development, coordinate bid teams and negotiate contracts for optimal profitability. • Seek cross‑selling opportunities across the Asset Management portfolio of products and services. • Track and report metrics on revenue, profit margins, pipeline status and market forecasts.

What You Bring

Galliford Try is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager for its AVRS & Capital Management business within the Asset Management Division. The role covers the UK Water/Environment sector, supporting a long‑term portfolio valued at around £550 million per year. A degree is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate has deep value‑based selling expertise, a proven record of negotiating high‑value, high‑margin contracts (e.g., in the energy sector), strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to build long‑term client relationships. Domestic travel and proficiency with CRM platforms (such as CX Manager) are also required. • Preferably hold a degree and demonstrate deep understanding of value‑based selling. • Proven track record of negotiating high‑value, high‑margin contracts in related sectors such as energy. • Strong strategic thinking, communication, presentation and analytical abilities. • Ability to build and sustain long‑term client relationships and willingness to travel domestically. • Proficient with CRM platforms (e.g., CX Manager) and capable of developing business development plans.
