About the Role
The Engineering Specifications Consultant role is based in the Greater Boston area and provides technical expertise to MEP firms, design/build contractors, and other specifiers. The consultant works closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain relationships, ensuring Viega products are included in applicable project sections and master specifications. In this position, the consultant builds long‑term relationships with engineers, architects, general contractors, EPCs, builders, and manufacturing accounts to drive product inclusion. They execute account strategies, develop strategic plans for key accounts, deliver professional presentations, and collaborate with customers and internal teams to align solutions with client requirements. Additional responsibilities include providing technical support to internal stakeholders, initiating new customer engagements, traveling up to 70% of the time for in‑person support, managing leads, liaising with code officials and inspectors, maintaining accurate Salesforce records, and reporting on field activity, specification inclusion, competitors, forecasts, and industry trends. • Build and maintain relationships with MEP engineers, architects, contractors, and builders to secure Viega product inclusion in specifications. • Execute account strategies and develop strategic plans to exceed revenue growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals. • Deliver professional presentations to engineers, architects, developers, facility engineers, plant managers, code officials, educators, and design/build contractors. • Collaborate with external customers, internal sales, and product engineering teams to align solutions with client requirements. • Revise existing specifications and assist in developing new ones, recommending industry‑specific changes to integrate Viega products. • Provide technical support to leadership, Industrial Sales Managers, National Accounts, and Technical Marketing for engineering and product guide specifications. • Initiate new customer engagements, schedule regular visits, and prospect leads to generate new business opportunities. • Maintain accurate Salesforce records and the engineering guide specification database. • Report field activity, specification inclusion, competitor insights, forecasts, and industry trends to management. • Participate in professional societies such as ASPE and ASHRAE to promote Viega products and technologies. • Accurately calculate unit conversions, percentages, area, and volume as required.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate is proficient with common office software and CRM tools, possesses detailed knowledge of codes, standards, and specification development, and demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. They must be able to build strategic relationships, interpret customer product requirements, and respond quickly to market dynamics. Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Civil Engineering (or related licensure) and 3‑5 years of industry experience, along with a valid driver’s license. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. • Travel up to 70% of the time for in‑person support, including code official liaison and inspector coordination. • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, PowerPoint, and CRM tools for sales environments. • Detailed knowledge of codes, standards, and specification development processes. • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience) and a valid driver’s license.
