About the Role
The role involves reviewing client briefs (RFPs), preparing tailored proposals, and leading small teams to deliver smart, efficient and compliant infrastructure packages. Responsibilities include concept and detailed civil infrastructure design, technical and commercial specifications, design reports, drawings and schedules, as well as monitoring budgets and schedules to meet financial targets. The engineer will also drive high‑quality drawing production, prepare tender submissions, liaise with municipalities, utilities and consultants, coordinate with internal multi‑discipline teams, and mentor junior staff. • Review client briefs (RFPs) and produce tailored proposals. • Lead small teams to deliver smart, efficient, compliant infrastructure packages. • Prepare concept and detailed civil infrastructure designs, specifications, reports, drawings and schedules. • Monitor and control project budgets and schedules to achieve financial targets. • Drive high‑quality drawing production in collaboration with drafters. • Prepare tender submissions with cost and time estimates. • Liaise with municipalities, utilities and consultants to secure approvals and coordinate tasks. • Coordinate with internal multi‑discipline project managers, teams and sub‑consultants. • Supervise and mentor junior staff, providing technical and professional guidance.

What You Bring
As a global firm, GHD continues to expand its market presence across the Middle East. The company is seeking an enthusiastic and self‑driven Dry Utilities Engineer for its Abu Dhabi office. The ideal candidate has experience as a Design Engineer/Technical Lead in dry‑infrastructure master planning, design approvals, project delivery and strong relationships with local authorities. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related science and have ten years of experience, including at least five years in a UAE‑based consultancy. Required skills include project management, client interfacing, strong relationships with government and private clients, technical knowledge of dry utilities (street lighting, MV networks, telecommunications, ADMCC, low‑voltage networks), and proficiency with modern infrastructure modelling software. Strong analytical, reporting and communication abilities are essential, and the ability to become a Registered Engineer in the UAE is required. • Obtain registration as an Engineer in the UAE (ability to become). • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related science. • 10 years of experience, minimum 5 years in a UAE‑based consultancy. • Proven project management and client‑interfacing experience. • Strong relationships with UAE government and private utility clients. • Technical knowledge of dry infrastructure utilities (street lighting, MV networks, telecommunications, ADMCC, low‑voltage networks). • Existing relationships with key decision makers in local utility organizations. • Proficiency with modern infrastructure modelling software. • Strong analytical, technical report writing and communication skills.
