Job Highlights
About the Role
The Operating Engineer role supports operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems on‑site in Deerfield, IL. The schedule is Tuesday‑Friday 9 am‑5 pm and Saturday 6 am‑2 pm. This position requires hands‑on work and adherence to local market requirements. In this role you will perform a variety of maintenance tasks, maintain the work order system, and respond to tenant service requests. You will also carry out preventive maintenance, support on‑call or emergency situations, and troubleshoot building systems such as electrical, DDC, and pneumatic controls. Ongoing safety and technical training are part of the job. • Paint, pressure wash, and maintain lighting systems (bulbs/ballasts). • Perform plumbing, HVAC, water treatment, locksmith, and general maintenance work. • Update and manage daily work orders in the CMMS and address tenant service requests. • Conduct preventive maintenance and inspection tasks on building equipment. • Provide on‑call or emergency response support when required. • Troubleshoot electrical, DDC, and pneumatic building control systems. • Follow all safety procedures and attend technical and safety training programs. • Complete additional assigned projects and tasks as needed.

Candidates need at least three years of experience in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry, with trade school, union training, military service, or college education preferred. A Universal CFC EPA certification—or the willingness to obtain one within the first year with JLL assistance—is required. Strong customer service skills, the ability to lift up to 50 lb, use ladders up to 30 ft, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are also essential. • Minimum 3 years of experience in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry. • Possess or be willing to obtain a Universal CFC EPA certification within the first year. • Ability to lift up to 50 lb, use ladders up to 30 ft, and frequently climb, bend, or kneel. • Strong customer service skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams).
