About the Role
The Splicing Supervisor role in San Jose, CA, leads a team of splicers, providing on‑the‑job training and ensuring high‑quality work. This position requires flexible scheduling, including occasional night and weekend on‑call duties, and involves managing crew schedules, time cards, and other supervisory responsibilities. • Install, repair, and splice fiber optic cables, including loose tube and mid‑sheath splices • Set up safety perimeters, flag traffic, and operate bucket trucks and splicing equipment safely • Prepare splice locations, termination points, and splice closures; construct splice cases • Test and troubleshoot fiber using OTDR and red‑light detection; complete audit and cut sheets • Manage crew schedules, submit daily time cards, and maintain vehicle and equipment

What You Bring
This full‑time hourly position operates outdoors in diverse environments, exposing employees to extreme weather, traffic, urban and rural settings, as well as potential natural gas and electrical hazards. Physical demands include standing for up to 12 hours, lifting up to 100 lb, climbing, and performing tasks that require keen visual acuity across multiple distances. Applicants must pass drug testing, background checks, and adhere to OSHA and other safety requirements. • Drive safely with a valid driver’s license; Class A CDL preferred • Minimum 5 years of fiber splicing experience • Valid driver’s license with good driving record; CDL preferred • Ability to lift 50 lb regularly, up to 100 lb as needed • Knowledge of fiber optic color codes, terminology, and safety regulations • Strong communication skills and ability to work in all weather conditions • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and pass drug/background screening
