About the Role
The Ready Force Team Technician plays a central role in installing, exchanging, maintaining, and reading gas, water, and electric meters, as well as surveying gas lines and communicating with customers. The position may also involve atmospheric corrosion, leak surveying, or line locating and requires extensive walking in various outdoor conditions. Travel throughout the United States can reach up to 100% while supporting multiple projects. Key duties include performing visual inspections of meters for leaks or damage, safely changing meters and registers, reading electric, gas, or water meters, and entering field data into handheld devices. Technicians detect underground utilities, inspect gas piping for corrosion, grade gas leaks, clean and re‑coat equipment, and provide customers with information or referrals to appropriate authorities. Participation in safety meetings and use of tablets, phones, and computers are also required. • Perform visual inspections of water, gas, or electric meters for leaks, damage, or hazards. • Replace meters and registers of various sizes and brands, including AMI/AMR upgrades. • Read electric, gas, or water meters and accurately upload data via handheld computer. • Locate and mark underground utilities using detection equipment. • Inspect gas meters and piping for proper coating and signs of atmospheric corrosion. • Grade gas leaks by severity and report escalations. • Refer consumer complaints to appropriate authorities and provide service information. • Use phones, tablets, and computers for team and customer communication. • Attend company‑provided safety meetings.

What You Bring
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and be able to complete Pipeline Operator Qualification (OQ) training. A minimum of one year of experience in meter maintenance, installation, reading, or gas line detection is required. No specific formal education is mandated, though a high school diploma or GED is preferred. Successful technicians demonstrate flexibility in schedules and routes, strong time‑management skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and GIS concepts, and the capability to walk long distances in varying weather are essential. The role involves outdoor work, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and handling objects up to 50 lb. Repeat motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers are common, and the ability to remain stationary for extended periods is required. Travel time may constitute 100% of the work schedule. • Clean, re‑coat, or paint meters and piping as needed. • Hold a valid driver’s license and complete required OQ training. • Minimum 1 year experience in meter maintenance, installation, reading, or gas line detection. • Ability to walk long distances and work in various weather conditions. • Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic GIS principles. • Strong multitasking, time‑management, and independent work capabilities. • Excellent verbal communication and professionalism with customers.
