Applicants must be of Mi’kmaw heritage or connected to one of the 13 Mi’kmaw communities in Nova Scotia and provide a Status Card or a supporting letter from community leadership. They must also be permanent residents of Nova Scotia. Selection considers leadership, community involvement, extracurricular activities, an essay, academic standing, and financial need. To apply, candidates must complete the online application and upload a resume, a high‑school transcript (grades 10‑12) or an unofficial university transcript, responses to structured questions, the budget template, and proof of status or a leadership letter. All required documents must be submitted before the deadline. • Preference for fields such as Power Engineering, Power Line Technology, Instrumentation Tech, Engineering, Technology, Business, Marketing & Communications, Environmental Sciences, and Law. • Eligibility requires Mi’kmaw heritage or connection to one of 13 Mi’kmaw communities and proof via Status Card or community leadership letter. • Applicants must be permanent residents of Nova Scotia. • Bursary cannot be combined with other Nova Scotia Power scholarships and is not for graduate studies. • Application must include resume, high‑school (grades 10‑12) or unofficial university transcript, structured question responses, budget template, and proof of status or support letter.

Benefits
The Mi’kmaw Bursary Program offers four non‑renewable $2,500 awards to Mi’kmaq students enrolled full‑time in post‑secondary education. Preference is given to applicants studying Power Engineering, Power Line Technology, Instrumentation Technology, Engineering, Technology, Business, Marketing & Communications, Environmental Sciences, or Law, and recipients may be eligible for a 12‑week paid internship with Nova Scotia Power. • Four $2,500 non‑renewable awards for Mi’kmaq students in full‑time post‑secondary programs. • Recipients may be eligible for a 12‑week paid internship at Nova Scotia Power.
