About the Role

The Geomatics Crew Chief leads the daily field operations of a land-survey crew, planning the most efficient data-acquisition strategies for projects ranging from primary control to construction layout and as-built surveys. The role involves documenting work, communicating progress with the Project Surveyor and technicians, and maintaining professional interaction with clients and land owners. Additional duties include interpreting construction drawings, preparing daily reports and timesheets, and maintaining survey vehicles and equipment. • Oversee daily field operations of a land-survey crew. • Develop efficient data-acquisition plans for surveys ranging from primary control to as-built layouts. • Document work performed and create sketches. • Communicate daily project schedule and progress with the Project Surveyor and technicians. • Interact professionally with client representatives and land owners. • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and survey tolerances. • Prepare daily reports, timesheets, and required paperwork. • Maintain survey vehicles and field equipment. • Participate in a 401(k) plan with 100 % employer match up to 5 %. • Utilize Employee Assistance Program and career-pathing resources.

What You Bring

Ideal candidates bring at least five years of industry experience, preferably with prior crew-chief responsibilities, and are proficient with total stations, GNSS receivers, data collectors, and tablet PCs. Strong computer, technical, and communication skills, a solid work ethic, and a team-player attitude are essential, as is the ability to travel for extended periods, work in all-weather conditions, walk long distances, and lift up to 80 lb. A valid driver’s license, clean background check, and drug screening clearance are required. • Possess 5+ years of industry experience, with crew-chief experience preferred. • Operate total stations, GNSS receivers, data collectors, and tablet PCs; Trimble equipment experience preferred. • Demonstrate strong computer, technical, and communication skills. • Exhibit a solid work ethic, team-player attitude, and proven work history. • Able to travel for extended periods and work in all-weather climates. • Capable of walking long distances over varied terrain and carrying up to 80 lb. • Hold a valid driver’s license and pass background and drug screenings.
