About the Role
As Design Lead you will take charge of the design delivery for infra or non‑infra elements of major potable‑water transfer projects valued up to £200 M. You will work with the Head of Engineering, Design Manager and Senior Designers to understand design needs and manage the design team from feasibility through construction and commissioning. You will collaborate with delivery teams—including construction, procurement, enabling, planning and commercial—to ensure the design is delivered efficiently and meets constructability requirements. • Plan, forecast, and resource design activities, monitor workload, and lead the design team to deliver on time. • Collaborate with project management, construction, enabling, planning, commercial, and procurement teams. • Build relationships with Anglian Water operational stakeholders to support design decisions and client sign‑off. • Facilitate information flow through technical queries and similar channels. • Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations and minimize safety risks throughout construction, commissioning, maintenance, and decommissioning. • Specify survey works (utilities, ground investigation, existing site surveys) promptly to support project delivery. • Coordinate with temporary works design.

What You Bring
• Hold a degree in engineering or a related discipline. • Proven experience working in multidisciplinary teams and managing a design section. • Experience leading design phases across civil, mechanical, electrical, and control disciplines, with a production‑methodology mindset and modular design exposure. • Understand design interactions across the project lifecycle.
