About the Role
As an Engineering Apprentice (Electrical) you will join an engineering team responsible for maintaining, repairing and upgrading assets across the electricity network, collaborating with engineers, power‑network craftspersons and specialists from procurement, finance and telecommunications to ensure safe electricity supply under all operating conditions. • Attend the designated training provider and develop a strong understanding of the technical knowledge and skills required for the role. • Act as an ambassador for UKAEA at external outreach, engagement and careers events.

What You Bring
The role is based at Culham, Oxfordshire and may be hybrid, though apprentices are encouraged to be onsite especially during the first few months. Employees must complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and DBS checks as part of the recruitment process. The apprenticeship lasts 48 months and includes successful completion of the nationally recognised Mechatronics Maintenance Technician qualification, attendance at a training provider to develop required technical knowledge, and acting as an ambassador for UKAEA at outreach and careers events. Applicants need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A–C (9–4) including Maths and English, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated interest and aptitude for the chosen area of work; additional or higher‑level qualifications may be required by the training provider. • Successfully complete the nationally recognised Mechatronics maintenance technician qualification (Skills England). • A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A–C (9–4), including Maths and English. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with others. • Demonstrated interest in, and aptitude for, the chosen area of work.
