About the Role

The Data Center Chief Engineer role is responsible for operating, inspecting, and maintaining various systems and equipment in a critical data‑center environment, focusing on efficient operations, minimal downtime, and safe, energy‑efficient conditions. The technician must demonstrate expertise in a primary craft while being multi‑skilled to complete daily assignments. Daily tasks include performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, CRAC, plumbing, and related building systems, following critical‑environment protocols and MOP processes; studying equipment such as building automation, fire/life safety, and production equipment; conducting facility inspections and reporting conditions affecting client occupancy; and completing hazard assessments, adhering to safety procedures, and maintaining compliance with codes and regulations. Administrative duties involve submitting P‑card receipts, updating work‑order status in real time using CMMS (e.g., Corrigo), performing vehicle safety inspections, escalating issues promptly, and attending work and safety meetings. Physical demands require lifting up to 80 lb, working at heights, climbing ladders, and operating in extreme temperatures, with on‑call availability. • Operate, inspect, and maintain data‑center systems and equipment. • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and CRAC units. • Conduct facility inspections and report conditions affecting client occupancy. • Complete hazard assessments and follow all safety procedures and codes. • Submit receipts, update work orders in CMMS, and perform vehicle safety inspections. • Escalate issues promptly and attend required work and safety meetings. • Provide on‑call support and respond to emergency work requests.

What You Bring

Required qualifications include at least four years of building‑engineering experience with strong HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and production‑equipment skills, experience in data‑center or raised‑floor environments, EPA 608 certification, and CRAC maintenance expertise. Preferred experience includes mastery of a specific craft, familiarity with building automation and fire safety systems, and relevant trade school or apprenticeship training. • Lift up to 80 lb, work at heights, climb ladders, and endure extreme temperatures. • Possess 4+ years of building‑engineering experience with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical expertise. • Hold a valid EPA 608 certification and CRAC (Liebert) maintenance experience. • Demonstrate familiarity with building automation and fire/life safety systems. • Complete two years of trades school or a documented apprenticeship in a relevant craft.
