About the Role
In this role you will perform site development engineering and project-management tasks across a variety of land-development projects. Responsibilities include completing civil design, obtaining permits, and using hydrology modeling, storm-drainage, AutoCAD and Civil 3D software. You will also conduct research, coordinate with stakeholders, manage staff, estimate costs, prepare bid packages, and develop technical specifications while receiving on-the-job training and mentorship. • Perform site civil design and land development engineering. • Conduct permitting and coordinate with regulatory agencies. • Utilize hydrology modeling, storm-drainage, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D software. • Manage project schedules, budgets, and staff resources. • Estimate costs, prepare bid packages, and write technical specifications. • Conduct research and support client interactions.

What You Bring
Kimley-Horn’s Saint Paul, MN office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with a minimum of two years of experience to join its Land Development team. Candidates must have at least two years of experience with a civil engineering design firm and hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program. An Engineer-in-Training (or ability to obtain within 12 months) certification, working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, strong communication skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented work ethic are required. The ability to work independently and collaboratively is essential. • Minimum 2 years experience at a civil engineering design firm. • ABET-accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering. • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months. • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design tools. • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. • High sense of urgency, self-initiative, detail-orientation, and teamwork.
