About the Role
The role involves diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, or overhauling trucks, buses, construction equipment, and all types of diesel engines. Technicians must use a variety of hand and power tools, conduct inspections, replace defective components, and perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. • Use hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, gauges) and power tools (pneumatic wrenches, lathes, hammers, welding equipment, jacks, hoists). • Practice safe hoisting, jacking, and solvent disposal. • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, and wheel bearings with micrometers and gauges; replace damaged parts. • Replace defective engines or sub‑assemblies such as transmissions. • Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment. • Raise trucks, buses, and heavy components using hydraulic jacks or hoists. • Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication. • Test‑drive trucks, buses, and overhauled equipment to diagnose malfunctions and verify efficiency. • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices. • Weld broken parts and structural members. • Attach test instruments, read dials and gauges to diagnose equipment issues. • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment using handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges. • Service automotive and mechanical equipment such as pumps and compressors. • Follow all safety and project rules and wear required personal protective equipment. • Work within precise limits to meet accuracy standards. • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems. • Plan work and select proper tools. • Compare size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects. • Visualize solid objects from drawings or diagrams. • Rate information using measurable standards.

What You Bring
Light Equipment Operators are certified to operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and pulls. Medium Equipment Operators can certify on all equipment up to 60‑ton cranes and dirt equipment such as dozers, track hoes, backhoes, dump trucks, yard dogs, bobcats, and excavators. Heavy Equipment Operators are qualified on all equipment and specialize in cranes of 60 tons and above. Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, and sitting, as well as lifting, carrying, and moving loads up to 50 lb, and performing tasks at heights. Operators must follow safe hoisting, jacking, and solvent‑disposal procedures and wear required personal protective equipment at all times. A high school diploma or equivalent, combined with relevant experience, is typically required. Employees work under direct supervision, follow established guidelines, and are expected to apply shop mathematics, plan work, select appropriate tools, and make accurate measurements.
