About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers that can exceed 1,000 pounds to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities. They navigate high‑traffic roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots, performing highly skilled backing maneuvers. Three driver categories—Commercial, Residential, and Roll‑off—share these core responsibilities while serving different customer types. Essential duties include complying with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws, as well as conducting pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections documented on a DVIR. Drivers must promptly report unsafe conditions, incidents, and service interruptions, attend required training, and work closely with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency. They are responsible for dumping receptacles, keeping customer sites clean, following assigned routes, completing end‑of‑day documentation, and assisting fellow drivers as needed. • Operate heavy‑duty trucks with front, side, or rear lift attachments to transport waste and recyclable containers. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections using the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR). • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and service interruptions immediately to management. • Follow all WM safety rules, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local, state, and federal laws. • Dump receptacles, keep customer locations clean, and complete end‑of‑day documentation. • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and address service issues. • Meet physical demands such as lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and reaching throughout the shift.

What You Bring

Applicants must have at least one year of experience operating a vehicle that requires a CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the past seven years, be 18 years of age or older, and be legally authorized to work in the country of employment. A valid Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement is required, and a high‑school diploma or GED is preferred. The role demands physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities. • Execute skilled backing maneuvers in congested and tight environments. • Hold a valid Class A or B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement and at least one year of relevant driving experience. • Be at least 18 years old, legally authorized to work in the U.S. or Canada; high‑school diploma or GED preferred.
