About the Role
The Toolroom Machinist role is located in the Prototyping and Tooling department, where you will support the production of high‑quality parts for manufacturing tools and research‑and‑development prototypes. The position operates in a continuous production environment with defined time constraints, requiring consistent productivity and adherence to quality standards. • Read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models. • Create process plans and design fixtures or jigs for part manufacturing. • Set up, program (conversational CNC), and operate manual and CNC machines (lathes, mills, drills, grinders, etc.). • Ensure machined parts meet specifications using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gage blocks, etc.). • Perform routine maintenance on machines and report mechanical/electrical issues. • Train departmental team members on equipment usage.

What You Bring
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of demonstrated experience setting up and operating manual or CNC machine tools. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with limited supervision are essential. The job requires frequent standing, walking, lifting items up to 40 lb, and performing tasks in low postures while using hand‑eye coordination to operate equipment. Benefits
Work hours are 4:30 pm to 1:00 am, Monday through Friday, with optional overtime on weekdays and Saturdays. The estimated hourly base pay ranges from $25 to $36 depending on experience, and the role is eligible for S&C’s annual short‑term incentive bonus.
