Job Highlights
About the Role
• Perform engineering calculations to analyze product designs for functionality and specification accuracy • Assist with resolution of technical issues related to product design, system design, and compliance with industry standards • Participate in site visits and work with end‑user customers • Present in design review meetings • Use 2D and 3D modeling software to create and maintain engineering documentation • Fabricate and evaluate product concepts • Create detailed drawings, 3D models, schematics, specifications, installation instructions, assembly prints, and test reports • Visit sites and suppliers • Route and update BOM changes for on‑site manufactured products • Assist with capital equipment purchases, maintenance improvements, and tooling enhancements • Support process improvement projects, including tooling design, vendor collaboration, floor assistance, and time studies to boost cost, efficiency, and safety • Engage with Quality department to correct technical drawings, design inspection gauges, and manage inspection data documentation • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles; partake in Kaizen events, Gemba walks, 5S, TPM, SMED, CCF, and MMF initiatives • Develop test plans to verify product design intent • Support product compliance with codes and standards • Procure, assemble materials, and conduct validation testing • Design and improve test fixturing • Work alongside company and industry leaders with diverse backgrounds and top credentials • Rotate through multiple engineering departments and manufacturing facilities to experience the full engineering process • Interact and collaborate with global teams • Apply classroom theories in real‑world settings to inform academic and career decisions • Complete an 8‑month full‑time co‑op in Solon, OH and provide personal transportation

The Mechanical Engineering Co‑op Program with nVent’s Electrical Connections business offers a structured, rotational experiential learning experience. Students work across product engineering, new product development, manufacturing, labs and compliance, and digital media, engaging in the complete engineering lifecycle from concept through testing to production while demonstrating hands‑on problem‑solving, creativity, and leadership. • Utilize analytical tools including Finite Element Analysis (ABAQUS) and Matlab • Pursue an undergraduate engineering degree, preferably mechanical or mechanical engineering technology • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 • Be enrolled full‑time or part‑time at an accredited university • Be authorized to work in the United States without restrictions • Innovative & adaptable • Respectful and team oriented
