About the Role
The Operations Manager – Hauling leads collections activities for commercial, industrial and residential customers across a dispersed geographic area. The role oversees a team of Operations Supervisors, Dispatchers, Operations Clerks, Drivers and Helpers responsible for commercial, roll‑off and residential routes. Working closely with the General Manager and other unit leaders, the manager executes the local market strategy, aligns with the Area’s overall operating and marketing plans, and drives functional excellence and budget achievement. The position also ensures effective safety programs, regulatory compliance, and change‑management initiatives that support growth and durability of the business unit. Key duties include hiring, training, coaching, and performance‑managing staff while addressing safety issues and claims. The manager implements tactical initiatives that enhance customer experience, growth and profitability, and optimizes productivity and route management for all service types. Responsibilities also cover customer and government liaison to resolve service concerns, adherence to environmental, regulatory and ethical standards, and oversight of the department budget, purchase orders and vendor pricing. Additionally, the role cultivates a best‑in‑class team culture, drives talent development, and builds strong relationships with government, community and environmental groups.
