About the Role
Drivers must operate vehicles in compliance with WM safety rules, OSHA and DOT regulations, and complete pre‑ and post‑trip inspections documented on a Driver Vehicle Inspection Report. They report unsafe conditions, incidents, or service interruptions to the Operations Manager or Dispatch, and communicate customer requests. Drivers attend required training, follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day paperwork, and assist fellow drivers as needed. • Drive trucks equipped with lift mechanisms to haul waste and recyclable containers. • Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle checks documented on a DVIR. • Adhere to WM safety policies, OSHA and DOT regulations while on the road. • Immediately report hazards, accidents or service interruptions. • Relay customer requests and route updates to dispatch or management. • Participate in mandatory training and safety briefings. • Perform precise backing maneuvers in congested areas. • Finalize daily paperwork and vehicle check‑out. • Support fellow drivers to fulfill service commitments. • Carry out physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching and reaching.

What You Bring
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers that can exceed 1,000 lb. Residential drivers collect household waste, while roll‑off drivers load and move large open‑top or compactor containers, often navigating tight or high‑traffic environments. Skilled backing maneuvers are essential across all driver roles. Required qualifications include a Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license with an air‑brake endorsement and at least one year of CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the past seven years. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, legally eligible to work, and may have a high school diploma or GED as a preferred credential. The role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, and other physical activities. • Possess a valid Class A or B CDL with air‑brake endorsement and at least one year of relevant driving experience. • Preferred education: high school diploma or GED.
