About the Role

This brand‑new role, internally known as Technical Lead, will create and lead a training, coaching, and competency programme for the company’s clean‑water scientists. It offers the chance to shape how scientific staff learn, develop and progress, designing everything from core skill modules to specialist digital resources and hands‑on sessions. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about people development, innovative learning, and building strong relationships across the team. All staff support 24/7 incident response to ensure water services are maintained, and flexible working arrangements will be considered where possible. • Designing and delivering training across water treatment topics • Supporting chartership pathways • Conducting competency assessments • Developing specialist training (site audits, filter assessments, jar testing, dosing, RGF turbidity, etc.) • Managing development resources (competency framework, SharePoint, guides, training videos, etc.) • Running development sessions at team meetings

What You Bring

The position of Professional Development Coach – Scientific is based in Falmer and is a permanent, full‑time role (37 hours) with a salary up to £53,000, dependent on skills and experience. A driving licence is essential as the role requires travel between sites. The closing date for applications is 16 February 2026. While a background in water process science is desirable, the key requirement is the right attitude—someone who can inspire, drive chartership and foster an engaging learning culture. The role requires a scientific, engineering or water‑process background, excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities, and confidence to develop multimedia and AI‑based training material.
