About the Role
This full‑time, on‑site role is not remote or hybrid and will be based in a Turner office or project location. The Engineer is responsible for managing, evaluating, and assessing information to deliver the project on time, within budget, and to the quality specified in the contract documents, while supervising Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants and Interns. • Liaise with architects, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, inspectors, Turner staff, and Owner's Representatives to resolve plan and specification issues. • Oversee decisions on contract drawings and subcontract information, ensuring alignment with the project estimate. • Manage the overall project budget. • Control submittals and shop drawings, assess compliance with contract specifications, and resolve interpretation conflicts. • Negotiate change orders, prepare independent analyses, obtain estimates and approvals, and address related disputes. • Direct the project close‑out process, preparing final records such as RFIs, warranties, as‑builts, O&M manuals, and spare parts. • Supervise Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, plan clerks, and interns, contributing to performance appraisals. • Prepare scope‑of‑work documents for trades. • Develop reports on general conditions items, labor, safety, change orders, and quality control. • Schedule and lead subcontractor trade coordination, preconstruction, and submittal review meetings.

The position is located in West Des Moines, IA (50266) and belongs to the Des Moines Main division of Turner Construction. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent mix of education, training and experience. Required skills include strong written and verbal communication, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and experience using BIM and LEAN technologies, as well as the ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and schedules. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills are essential. The role involves regular sitting, standing, walking and occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, with frequent lifting of up to 50 lb. Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, or caustic chemicals, and the work environment can range from moderate to very loud.
