Job Highlights
About the Role
A Driver Helper teams with a route driver to collect waste and recyclable materials from residential and commercial customers, handling containers that may be curbside, dockside, or require pull‑out service. The role involves loading containers, operating hoisting equipment, and assisting with vehicle maneuvers while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. • Follow WM safety, OSHA, and all applicable laws. • Report unsafe situations, incidents, and service issues to the Operations Manager or Dispatch immediately. • Attend required training, briefings, and meetings. • Load and empty residential or commercial containers manually or mechanically. • Operate hoisting device to lift bins into the truck hopper. • Assist the driver with backing maneuvers and other route tasks. • Communicate customer requests and service interruptions to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Perform duties as scheduled and support other drivers as needed. • Lift, carry, push, pull, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, handle, grasp, talk, hear, perform repetitive motions, and coordinate eye/hand/foot movements.
