Operations Director - Commercial Manager (Water Sector)

About the Role

You will work within capital delivery, collaborating with project teams and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver multiple water and water‑recycling projects within the AMP8 programme. The role ensures adherence to the client’s project governance procedures, including risk, cost and change control, and works closely with other business teams. The position directs cost consultancy and management services to achieve strategic outcomes and key performance indicators, providing leadership through subordinate managers and overseeing contract administration, valuations, cost control, reporting, certifications and claims. • Manage delivery of key assignments to drive client outcomes, business growth and strategic account development. • Uphold ethical, compliant operations and support net‑zero carbon delivery in line with Mace values. • Inspire and develop high‑performing, inclusive teams, fostering talent growth, innovation and continuous improvement. • Oversee contract administration, valuations, cost control, reporting, certifications and claims to ensure robust governance and commercial certainty. • Manage post‑contract cost management to drive income, performance improvement and achieve business targets. • Lead and mentor senior teams, embedding excellence and continuous improvement. • Drive best practice, transformational change and net‑zero outcomes through collaborative, sustainable delivery. • Manage commercial and contract obligations across delivery vehicles. • Ensure compliance with NEC contract management standards. • Lead commercial reporting and support dispute avoidance through proactive engagement. • Prioritise safety and wellbeing, ensuring a safe, diverse and inclusive work environment. • Maintain client focus by delivering quality outcomes and building long‑term relationships. • Create opportunities for people to excel through continuous improvement and talent development.
