About the Role
The role involves leading the day‑to‑day technical delivery of civil engineering consultancy across the full project life‑cycle, providing expertise in drainage, SuDS, flood risk, highways, earthworks and utilities, acting as Project Manager on multidisciplinary assignments, guiding technical staff, and managing client and stakeholder engagement to ensure projects are delivered on budget, on schedule and to required quality and compliance standards. • Lead day‑to‑day technical delivery of civil engineering consultancy across all project phases. • Provide expertise in drainage, SuDS, flood risk, highways, earthworks and utilities. • Act as Project Manager on multidisciplinary projects when required. • Guide and support junior technical staff. • Manage client engagement, stakeholder relationships and design‑team collaboration. • Ensure projects are delivered on budget, schedule and meet technical and legal quality standards.

What You Bring
Candidates should have strong knowledge and experience in highway design, drainage strategies, flood risk assessment and utility planning, an awareness of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics and construction stages, the ability to produce masterplans, reports, calculations and drawings, familiarity with relevant design codes and software, and proven liaison skills with clients, co‑professionals and authorities, complemented by an understanding of legal, financial and contractual aspects and a postgraduate qualification or equivalent, nearing chartership and willing to become an ICE supervising engineer. • Experience in highway design, drainage strategies, flood risk assessment and utility planning. • Knowledge of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics and construction design stages. • Ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, calculations and construction drawings. • Proficiency with design codes (Water UK, DMRB, Manual for Streets, SuDS Manual) and software (Micro Drainage, Info Drainage, Civils 3D, PDS). • Strong liaison skills with clients, co‑professionals, statutory and local authorities. • Understanding of legal, planning, financial and contractual processes for development projects. • Post‑graduate qualification or equivalent, nearing ICE chartership and willing to become a supervising engineer.
