About the Role

Under minimal supervision, the technician conducts preventive maintenance, repairs, installations, and commissioning of building automation systems while ensuring high customer satisfaction. The role involves detailed troubleshooting of complex control systems and mentoring of control, service, and mechanical technicians on automation activities. Accurate project and service documentation is completed for each assignment. The technician acts as a trusted advisor, delivering solutions that address building inefficiencies. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing complex electronic or digital control malfunctions, consulting with customers based on site assessments, and providing field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements. The technician assists sales with technical recommendations, manages assigned work to meet schedule and quality expectations, and promptly reports any issues to management. Coordination with branch managers, service managers, project managers, and subcontractors ensures seamless project execution. Technical sketches, as‑built drawings, and documentation are prepared to support engineering corrections. The role also encompasses design and configuration of building control systems, creation of flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of materials, network layouts, and electrical schematics as required. Software programs are developed, tested, and validated to meet project intent, and all project close‑out documentation is compiled. Material selection, ordering, and tracking are handled, along with coordination of factory‑mounting and commissioning of controllers. What You Bring

Candidates must have at least four years of commercial HVAC controls troubleshooting experience, a vocational school graduation or associate degree, or two years of relevant experience. They should demonstrate the ability to install and service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment, possess strong communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences, and have solid writing and software proficiency. Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, and building automation subsystems is required.
