About the Role
The Communication and SCADA Technician will support the Honolulu Rail Project, applying creativity and continuous‑improvement ideas. The technician is responsible for maintaining communication and SCADA equipment, ensuring reliable operation of the rail system’s central communications infrastructure. • Perform preventative maintenance on communication and SCADA equipment. • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental procedures. • Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance to meet service availability requirements. • Implement and follow service, repair, and maintenance procedures for equipment. • Oversee operation of communication systems and central equipment to meet contract performance standards. • Download and analyze communication, video, and voice log files for troubleshooting and predictive maintenance. • Support field technicians by diagnosing and resolving system and subsystem faults. • Complete operational, equipment failure, safety, and other required reports. • Conduct routine inspections, adjustments, testing, and cleaning per schematics and manufacturer instructions. • Maintain sufficient materials, hand tools, and equipment for maintenance activities. • Identify early failure trends that could impact fleet availability. • Supervise supplier staff performing work on the system. • Conduct inspections and acceptance of equipment installations. • Enter maintenance data into the MMIS system. • Work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by major infrastructure projects.

What You Bring
Candidates should hold an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Electronics Engineering and possess at least three years of preventive‑maintenance experience on technical systems. Expert knowledge of communication systems is required, and the role is covered by the IBEW Local 1186 bargaining unit. • Hold an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Electronics Engineering. • Minimum three years of experience in preventive maintenance of technical systems. • Expert knowledge of communication systems.
