About the Role
The role provides local technical assistance throughout the due‑diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design, development, and construction phases of utility, industrial, and commercial‑scale projects in both public and private sectors. Responsibilities may include research, concept development, and construction of transmission and distribution substations, power regulation, renewable energy, and protection and control systems across utilities, transportation, building, and government projects. Accurate and concise documentation is required, and work must meet or exceed industry standards for design, safety, and functionality. Under general supervision, the engineer will collect and analyze data on substation components, develop procurement packages, and assist with design reviews in line with IEEE, NESC, and NERC standards. Tasks include creating single‑line, three‑line, wiring, and layout diagrams, designing grounding grids and lightning protection, and performing equipment sizing, AC/DC panel design, and conduit/trenching strategies to ensure safety and functionality. The role also involves verifying site characteristics, supporting engineering and construction procedures, and generating thorough documentation using electronic systems and field logs. • Collect and analyze substation component data for procurement and design. • Develop single‑line, three‑line, wiring, and layout diagrams adhering to industry standards. • Design grounding grids and lightning protection systems. • Perform equipment sizing, AC/DC panel design, and conduit/trenching strategies. • Verify site characteristics and provide technical support for engineering and construction. • Calculate loads, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, and lighting circuits. • Produce accurate documentation using electronic systems and field logs. • Follow safety guidelines, site procedures, and WSP’s code of conduct. • Utilize design software such as CADD, Aspen, CAPE, and AutoCADD Electrical.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and have 0‑1 years of post‑graduation experience. Required skills include strong research and analytical abilities, familiarity with electrical codes and regulations, proficient communication with both technical and non‑technical audiences, and basic proficiency in design software such as CADD, Aspen, CAPE, and AutoCADD Electrical. The position demands self‑leadership, attention to detail, multitasking, and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, and conduct policies. Preferred qualifications are an Engineer in Training certification, prior internship experience, and active participation in professional organizations. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 0‑1 years of experience. • Demonstrate strong research, analytical, and communication skills. • Familiarity with electrical codes, standards, and record‑keeping requirements. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under general supervision. • Prefer Engineer in Training certification and relevant internship experience.
