About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load‑lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclables to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Commercial drivers handle container pick‑up, residential drivers collect household waste, and roll‑off drivers load and move large open‑top containers, all requiring skilled backing maneuvers in congested or tight environments. Core responsibilities include operating the vehicle in compliance with WM safety rules, OSHA and DOT regulations, completing pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, and documenting checks on the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report. Drivers must promptly report unsafe conditions, incidents, or service interruptions to the Operations Manager or Dispatch, attend required training, and communicate customer requests. They also follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and assist fellow drivers as needed. • Operate heavy‑duty trucks with load‑lift attachments per safety, OSHA, and DOT standards. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR documentation. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and service interruptions immediately. • Attend all required training, briefings, and meetings. • Communicate customer requests and ensure clean drop‑off sites. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day paperwork, and assist other drivers.

What You Bring
Applicants must have at least one year of experience operating a CDL‑required vehicle or comparable military driving within the past seven years, be at least 18 years old, legally eligible to work in the U.S., and hold a Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role demands frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, as well as talking and hearing, reflecting the physically active nature of waste‑collection work. Candidates must possess a REAL ID or an acceptable TSA‑approved alternative for travel or access to federal property. WM drivers are recognized as skilled professionals who work safely, return home daily, and contribute to clean and thriving communities. • Hold a Class A or B CDL with air‑brake endorsement (or 1 yr equivalent driving experience). • Minimum age 18 and legal work eligibility in the United States. • Preferred: High school diploma or GED. • Physical tasks include standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing. • REAL ID or TSA‑approved alternative required for travel/federal property access.
