About the Role
The Automation Engineer will create and implement automation control systems for industrial processes and warehouse distribution equipment, improving reliability and performance of conveyors, sortation, scanners, cameras, print‑and‑apply, and SCADA devices while adhering to safety policies. In this role the engineer acts as the site technical expert, mentors apprentices, collaborates with operations, engineering, and support teams, and oversees documentation and change‑management procedures. • Design, develop, and optimize PLC/PC control systems for conveyors, sortation, scanners, cameras, and SCADA devices. • Serve as site automation expert, mentor apprentices, and ensure safety and technical standards. • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, industrial networks, and material handling systems while following change‑management procedures. • Monitor performance metrics, conduct root‑cause analysis, and lead continuous‑improvement projects for cost savings. • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and support teams to deliver automation projects.

What You Bring
The position requires a four‑year degree or equivalent, proven leadership and mentoring ability, proficiency with CMMS, strong English communication, a problem‑solving mindset, and willingness to work varied shifts including nights and weekends. Preferred experience includes two or more years of PLC programming and HMI/network design, hands‑on work with motor controls and industrial electrical systems, and familiarity with RSLogix5000, FT View, and remote technical support. • Required: 4‑year degree or equivalent, leadership experience, CMMS proficiency, strong English communication, problem‑solving mindset, flexible shift availability. • Preferred: 2+ years PLC programming/HMI design, experience with VFDs, motor controls, RSLogix5000, SCADA, and remote technical support.
