Senior Construction Inspector
Inspect and ensure quality of roadway and bridge construction projects for PennDOT.
Job Highlights
About the Role
The Inspector will perform quality‑control construction observations across roadway and bridge projects, including site work, traffic protection, drainage, earthwork, paving, concrete, reinforcement steel placement, and utility relocation. They must read contract documents and plans, monitor construction sequencing, cost, and performance decisions, and ensure proper document control, quality assurance, and uniform record‑keeping. • Conduct quality‑control inspections for roadway, bridge, and site construction activities. • Review contract documents and construction plans to verify compliance. • Monitor construction sequencing, cost, and performance decisions. • Maintain accurate document control, quality‑assurance records, and project files. • Ensure safety and coordination of traffic, drainage, utility relocation, and reinforcement work.

What You Bring
Candidates need a minimum of five years of PennDOT‑related roadway experience covering earthwork, sub‑base, concrete, asphalt, drainage, lighting, guardrails, markings, signs, and traffic management. Bridge inspection experience is a plus, along with a valid driver’s license, preferred CTQP and NICET certifications, strong PC and Microsoft Office skills, and excellent time‑management, organizational, and detail‑orientation abilities. Knowledge of PennDOT road specifications and proficient English communication are also required. • At least 5 years of PennDOT roadway construction experience (earthwork, concrete, asphalt, drainage, etc.). • Bridge construction inspection experience (preferred). • Valid driver’s license; CTQP and NICET certifications preferred. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and strong PC skills. • Excellent time‑management, attention to detail, and organizational abilities. • Knowledge of PennDOT road specifications and fluent English communication.
