About the Role

The Senior Project Engineer will manage a small project or a component of a larger, more complex project with oversight. This role applies JE Dunn’s processes and tools to handle project management, administration, and field execution, supporting the company’s strategy, vision, and values. Autonomy includes decision‑making within the assigned area, recommending actions to supervisors, and referring exceptions as needed. The career path leads to Project Manager 1. Core responsibilities include maintaining safety and quality standards, coordinating QA/QC planning, and participating in estimating and change‑management activities. The engineer monitors on‑site crew size, materials, equipment, and performs punch lists, inspections, and documentation. They also organize project meetings, prepare daily and weekly reports, and manage procurement logs and shop‑drawing tracking. Additional duties involve leading estimate preparation for base and self‑perform work, selecting subcontractors, coordinating purchase orders, and managing project setup in CMiC and other technologies. The role also includes scheduling, production‑statistics analysis, risk management, and facilitating various project meetings. The engineer reviews subcontractor payments, understands contract terms, drives collaborative problem‑solving, and leads project close‑out and mentorship activities. • Coordinate QA/QC planning for assigned tasks. • Participate in estimating, quantity take‑off, and subcontractor proposal review. • Monitor on‑site crew size, self‑perform hours, materials, and equipment. • Conduct punch lists, city inspections, safety and quality reviews. • Post up‑to‑date drawings and specifications. • Organize and document project meetings. • Prepare daily, weekly, and progress reports including manpower and production schedules. • Perform job‑site observations with project leadership. • Create and maintain procurement logs and track shop drawings. • Provide schedule support with regular progress updates. • Oversee project close‑out, including punch lists and as‑built drawings. • Apply best‑practice construction techniques and Lean principles. • Build relationships with tradespeople, foremen, superintendents, and subcontractors. • Identify and develop self‑perform opportunities. • Lead estimate preparation for base, self‑perform work, and change requests. • Select subcontractors and vendors for project scopes. • Coordinate purchase orders for material timing and delivery. • Manage job set‑up and administration in CMiC and other tools. • Lead submittal process aligned with project schedule. • Prepare and manage schedule for assigned project portion. • Analyze and report production statistics for key components. • Manage project risks such as subcontractor performance and resource allocation. • Facilitate pre‑planning, post‑construction, monthly review, and OAC meetings. • Review and approve subcontractor and vendor payment applications. • Initiate issue discussions to foster collaborative problem‑solving. • Lead project close‑out, controlling quality, costs, and inspections. • Provide training and mentorship to team members.

What You Bring

The position requires strong communication skills, proficiency in MS Office and construction‑management software, and knowledge of Lean processes, self‑perform productivity, and specific trades. Candidates must be able to assess and optimize productivity, maximize profitability, and lead teams to achieve production goals. A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and 3+ years of construction experience are required.
