ILS Officer

About the Role

The role offers a broad scope, covering project planning and documentation, detailed scheduling, estimating and risk management, tender evaluation and procurement support, technical and interface documentation, as well as safety, security and logistics planning. You will prepare and review project management office plans and Gate 2 documentation, conduct task estimation and risk assessments, and support the development of system specifications and integration plans. Additionally, you will contribute to safety and security program planning and create logistics support documentation throughout the capability lifecycle. • Prepare and review project management plans, Gate 2 documentation, and other key materials. • Conduct detailed planning, task estimation, risk assessments, and track major project risks. • Participate in Tender Evaluation Working Groups, validate responses, and develop procurement documents. • Develop and update system specifications, interface definitions, and management plans for Defence and external networks. • Support safety and security program planning and create logistics support documentation across the capability lifecycle. • Contribute to critical Defence projects protecting Australia’s future.

What You Bring

We are looking for candidates with proven project management expertise in CASG pre‑Gate 1/Gate 2 projects, Defence Capability Life Cycle and ASDEFCON tendering, alongside strong engineering backgrounds in communications, systems, and software engineering, particularly SATCOM. Formal logistics qualifications, deep knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support processes, and proficiency in CASG cost modelling and commercial documentation are essential. Relevant tertiary or professional project management qualifications (e.g., AIPM), the ability to engage stakeholders independently, and a current Negative Vetting 1 or higher security clearance are also required. • Experience with CASG pre‑Gate 1/Gate 2 projects, Defence Capability Life Cycle, and ASDEFCON tendering. • Strong background in communications, systems, and software engineering, including SATCOM knowledge. • Formal logistics qualifications and deep understanding of ILS processes and Defence logistics systems. • Proficiency in CASG cost modelling, estimation tools, and commercial documentation drafting. • Relevant tertiary or professional project management qualifications (e.g., AIPM) and ability to engage stakeholders independently. • Current Negative Vetting 1 (or higher) security clearance; ITAR compliance may be required.
