About the Role
The role is responsible for overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance of all mechanical and electrical plant across the site, following established task schedules and asset registers. It requires proactive identification of improvement areas and swift resolution of faults to keep plant operational. Health and safety are central, with duties including operating the Permit to Work system, conducting LOTO checks, and ensuring all work follows Method Statements and Risk Assessments while staff wear appropriate PPE and maintain a clean, secure environment. Administrative responsibilities involve managing subcontractor approvals, maintaining accurate spare parts inventories, preparing parts lists and timelines, completing all required paperwork for reactive and breakdown jobs, and keeping the computerised maintenance system (e.g., Maximo) up-to-date with precise data and ticket closures. The position also demands strong collaboration with BGIS personnel, subcontractors, and client representatives, fostering professional relationships, upholding the company's image, and ensuring plant rooms remain locked, tidy, and compliant with KPI and SLA targets. • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PPM) on all mechanical and electrical plant per site schedules. • Execute reactive maintenance tasks, highlighting improvement opportunities. • Supervise and approve subcontractor work, ensuring contract compliance. • Operate the Permit to Work system in line with BGIS H&S procedures. • Quickly remediate plant faults and defects to keep equipment serviceable. • Maintain adequate spare parts inventory and provide parts lists with estimates. • Complete and forward paperwork for reactive and breakdown jobs to the contract administrator. • Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks. • Ensure a safe, healthy work environment by wearing uniform and PPE at all times. • Keep plant rooms locked, clean, and tidy. • Update Maximo (or similar CMMS) with accurate data and close PPM/reactive tickets. • Generate near-miss reports, dynamic risk assessments, and detailed activity records. • Verify LOTO system operation according to safety procedures. • Monitor building environmental conditions via the BMS to maintain acceptable internal settings.
