About the Role

CoStar delivers real-time, verified commercial real estate data that enables clients to identify opportunities and make informed decisions ahead of competitors. The Analytics team builds customer‑facing Real Estate Analytics products, creating innovative, data‑intensive applications that transform vast research data into fast, reliable, and intuitive platforms. The Senior Software Engineer – Front End will lead the full‑lifecycle development of this critical analytics product, operating from the San Diego office Monday through Thursday with remote work on Friday. The role involves designing, building, testing, and deploying scalable front‑end solutions while collaborating across engineering, product, design, and leadership teams. • Design, build, test, and deploy scalable, reusable front‑end applications that handle large data volumes. • Own end‑to‑end development, testing, deployment, and production support for features. • Collaborate with engineers, product owners, designers, and leadership to deliver solutions. • Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions. • Contribute to technical architecture and design decisions as a trusted team member. • Advocate for technical and process improvements, exploring new tools and best practices. • Develop deep understanding of CoStar’s business and analytics products. • Design and implement complex UI architectures and component systems.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. • 5+ years of modern front‑end development experience. • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and React (or a comparable framework). • Experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, and data‑driven UI implementations. • Knowledge of CSS frameworks, preferably Tailwind. • Solid understanding of browser behavior, debugging tools, and performance fundamentals. • Exposure to Node.js or backend‑for‑frontend (BFF) patterns. • Proficiency with Git, pull‑request workflows, and code review best practices. • Ability to translate ambiguous problems into clear technical designs and deliver independently. • Experience using AI‑assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot. • Expertise with micro‑frontend architectures. • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and performance optimization techniques. • Experience with D3 or other charting libraries. • Understanding of observability tools like Datadog RUM/APM, logging, or tracing. • Experience with testing frameworks such as Playwright or Jest. • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
