Job Highlights
About the Role
The Sorter is responsible for safely and efficiently processing incoming recyclable materials so that outbound commodities are acceptable for sale to various brokers or mills. This role ensures that recyclable streams are properly prepared for market demand and contributes to the company’s sustainability objectives. The sorter’s day‑to‑day tasks include sorting and segregating materials such as aluminum, plastic, glass, and paper, then depositing the recoverable items into the appropriate chute. They also assist teammates with heavy or bulky items, follow all safety policies—including stopping the conveyor belt in emergencies—inspect loads for contaminants, communicate with equipment operators about special waste, and perform additional duties as assigned. • Sort and segregate recoverable materials such as aluminum, plastic, glass, and paper from incoming waste. • Deposit sorted materials safely and efficiently into the appropriate chute. • Assist other sorters with heavy or bulky items as needed. • Follow all company safety policies and stop the conveyor belt in emergencies. • Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove it. • Communicate with equipment operators about special waste loads requiring attention. • Access health care and dependent care spending accounts. • Participate in the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EAP). • Take advantage of employee discount programs.
