About the Role
The Supervising Planner role in the multi‑disciplinary Planning department will lead and manage projects related to Complete Streets, Vision Zero, transit access, greenways, streetscapes, park design, and community placemaking for municipalities, regional organizations, and state agencies throughout the Northeast. The position involves project quality, financial, and schedule oversight, proposal development, QA/QC, staff mentoring, cross‑disciplinary collaboration, GIS analysis, master planning, safety assessments, deliverable production, design graphics, and public outreach. • Lead and manage project quality, budget, and schedule for multimodal transportation and safety studies. • Develop competitive proposal responses and pursue new opportunities with NJ agencies. • Provide QA/QC oversight and mentor department staff. • Collaborate with in‑house engineering, environmental, urban design, and landscape architecture teams across NY and PA offices. • Perform GIS mapping and spatial analysis for planning projects. • Create Active Transportation, Bicycle, Pedestrian Master Plans and route design. • Conduct Vision Zero plans, crash safety assessments, and road safety audits. • Produce deliverables including data collection, reports, graphics, and renderings. • Design conceptual graphics, renderings, and visualizations. • Facilitate public outreach through virtual/in‑person meetings, input boards, and surveys.

What You Bring
Candidates must have 12+ years of consulting or public‑agency experience with leadership experience, a master’s degree in planning, landscape architecture, engineering or related field, and strong knowledge of New Jersey agency methodologies and relationships. Required credentials include AICP and NJ Professional Planner license, proven ability to win work with NJDOT, NJ Transit, NJTPA, and effective proposal writing and staff development skills. Strong communication, graphic, and software abilities (Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, AutoCAD) and a collaborative spirit are essential; ability to work in a hybrid environment and conduct fieldwork is also required. • 12+ years of consulting or public‑agency experience with leadership responsibilities. • Master’s degree in planning, landscape architecture, engineering, or related field. • Strong knowledge of NJ agency methodologies and established relationships with senior staff. • Proven success winning work with NJDOT, NJ Transit, NJTPA. • Effective proposal writing and staff development skills. • Excellent written and graphic communication abilities. • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, AutoCAD. • Collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment. • Willingness to conduct fieldwork and attend regional project meetings.
