About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers that can exceed 1,000 lb. Commercial drivers handle pick‑up service for containers, navigating high‑traffic roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots, while residential drivers collect household waste in similar environments. Roll‑off drivers load and transport large open‑top or compactor containers, often working in tight overhead industrial routes. All drivers must adhere to WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and other applicable laws. They conduct pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections, complete DVIR reports, and immediately report unsafe situations, incidents, or service interruptions. Drivers attend required training, work with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency, and communicate customer requests to dispatch. • Operate heavy‑duty trucks with lift attachments to transport waste or recyclables to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR). • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, and service interruptions promptly to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Communicate customer requests and ensure receptacles are emptied and sites left clean. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day paperwork, and assist fellow drivers as needed. • Meet physical demands such as lifting, walking, crouching, and executing skilled backing maneuvers for containers over 1,000 lb.

What You Bring

The role requires a valid Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement, or at least one year of equivalent military driving experience within the past seven years. Applicants must be 18 years or older, legally authorized to work in the U.S., and a high school diploma or GED is preferred. The position involves significant physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, and performing skilled backing maneuvers with heavy containers. • Hold a valid Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement, or have one year of equivalent military driving experience. • Be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States. • Preferably possess a high school diploma or GED.
