About the Role

The Lead Cleaner coordinates, schedules, and supervises building cleaning staff, ensuring offices, hallways, stairs, and other areas are maintained in a clean and orderly condition while performing basic cleaning duties. The role may also oversee basic maintenance of the surrounding grounds and premises. • Supervise, schedule, and assign interior cleaning staff for tasks such as waste removal, floor care, dusting, restroom upkeep, and window cleaning. • Assign tasks, inspect work quality, issue supplies, and manage inventory of cleaning materials. • Assist with screening, hiring, training, performance reviews, and recommend promotions, transfers, or dismissals. • Prepare and present reports on room occupancy, labor hours, staff assignments, duties performed, and department expenses. • Supervise or assist exterior cleaning, snow removal, and basic maintenance of walls, windows, parking areas, gardens, pools, and other outdoor spaces. • Assign staff to minor maintenance and repair work, including painting, light and fixture replacement, furniture moves, door repairs, landscaping, and simple plumbing. • Oversee additional duties such as gardening, outdoor furnishings care, inventory control, tenant move assistance, and snow removal. • Promptly report spills, emergencies, repairs, lighting issues, equipment failures, structural damage, plumbing, HVAC problems, and other safety concerns to management. • Ensure safe operation and proper training on cleaning equipment, snow removal tools, chemicals, and special solutions to protect floors, fixtures, personnel, and the environment. • Maintain up-to-date Safety Data Sheets, train staff on hazard communication, and dispose of chemicals in an environmentally compliant manner.

What You Bring

A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and candidates should have a minimum of two years of related experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity. Applicants must possess basic mechanical knowledge, be able to follow oral and written instructions, carry out work orders, supervise collaboratively, and demonstrate reliability, organization, flexibility, and courtesy. Proficiency with the MS Office Suite and work order systems is required. The position operates in a professional office environment, utilizing standard office equipment and may require travel between properties in varying weather conditions. Physical demands include frequent stooping, standing, climbing, and lifting at least 50 lb of equipment, as well as crouching, reaching, and moving equipment across departments and floors. Clear communication and reading comprehension are also essential.
