About the Role
Key accountabilities include maximising the technical department’s contribution to cost‑effective product manufacturing, maintaining product quality levels that meet commercial, operational and customer requirements, and delivering high‑quality technical support to commercial, operations and external customers. Daily tasks involve sampling, testing and preparing concrete, asphalt and aggregate specimens according to relevant British and European standards. The technician will investigate quality issues, conduct preliminary plant or customer‑site investigations, and review water demand, mix‑consistency and delivery practices. Any non‑conformances or near‑hits are reported, and unsafe or low‑quality behaviours are challenged. Assistance with transporting test specimens is also required. • Conduct sampling, field testing and specimen preparation for concrete, asphalt and quarry products per standards. • Investigate quality issues and provide feedback to technical and operations teams. • Perform preliminary plant or customer site investigations and review water demand, mix consistency and delivery practices. • Raise non‑conformance reports (NCRs) and Near Hits as required. • Challenge unsafe or low‑quality behaviours. • Assist with transportation of test specimens. • Maximise technical department contribution to cost‑effective product manufacture. • Maintain product quality aligned with commercial, operational and customer requirements. • Provide high‑quality technical support to commercial, operations and external customers.
