About the Role
The technician will generate CADD drawings, sketches, and renderings of varying scale, resolve design details in partnership with engineers, and produce design phase deliverables such as reports, plans, models, sections, and material lists. They will collect data from surveys, historical documents, and sketches, assist engineers with geometric dimensioning, tolerance, and quantity calculations, and collaborate with cross‑functional drafting teams while ensuring compliance with city, state, and federal regulations. • Provide civil/structural drafting support for ports, marine, and intermodal rail projects • Generate CADD drawings, sketches, and renderings of varying scale and complexity • Resolve design details using CADD in partnership with staff engineers • Prepare design phase deliverables such as reports, plans, models, sections, and material lists • Collect and compile data from surveys, documents, sketches, and instructions • Assist engineers with GD&T, quantity calculations, and code compliance • Collaborate with geotechnical, electrical, mechanical, coastal, fire protection, and architectural drafting teams • Ensure deliverables meet city, state, and federal regulations • Maintain safety standards and adhere to WSP health, safety, and harassment policies • Adapt work schedule to meet project‑specific requirements

What You Bring
Required qualifications include a high school diploma, at least 11 years of post‑education drafting and design experience, strong knowledge of drafting principles, relevant codes, and compliance practices, and the ability to perform technical calculations and interpret specifications. Candidates must demonstrate effective communication, self‑leadership, analytical judgment, proficiency with technical software and tools, and a proven safety record, with occasional travel as needed. Preferred qualifications are an associate’s degree or industry certification and experience with Revit, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, Autodesk ReCap or Autoturn, as well as prior drafting work on ports and marine structures. • High School Diploma • Minimum 11 years relevant post‑education drafting/design experience • Knowledge of drafting principles, codes, and compliance practices • Ability to perform geometric calculations and interpret specifications • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Self‑leadership, attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Analytical mindset for sound judgment and decision‑making • Proficiency with technical writing, software, spreadsheets, and related tools • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety • Associate’s degree or industry certification (preferred) • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads (preferred) • Experience with Autodesk ReCap or Autoturn (preferred) • Port and marine structure drafting experience (preferred)
