About the Role

The role, based in an office in Windsor, CT, manages a team responsible for third‑party vendor aging, payment dispute reconciliation, and initial vendor service research, overseeing vendor selection, relationships, contracts, and service quality. The manager directs vendor procurement, resolves escalated issues, leads RFI/RFP development, and guides vendor payable supervisors while ensuring compliance with service level agreements and continuous improvement of payment processes. Supervisory duties include direct oversight of full‑time employees and indirect supervision of additional staff, as well as hiring, training, performance evaluation, and compensation decisions for the department. • Source and manage third‑party vendor and technician services, maintaining quality and efficiency. • Negotiate and monitor vendor agreements, ensuring contractual commitments and service performance. • Oversee vendor selection, qualification, and maintain a vendor database to optimize services. • Serve as primary contact for purchases, service agreements, deliveries, and customer satisfaction issues. • Resolve escalated vendor and technician problems in line with service level agreements. • Develop Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and business cases. • Direct vendor payment processes, track trends, improve procedures, and drive team performance. • Lead and collaborate with Vendor Payable Supervisors and external partners. • Manage department staffing, including hiring, training, performance reviews, and compensation decisions.

What You Bring

The position requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), at least four years of relevant experience, strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, and advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency; knowledge of WM services is a plus. • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) plus a high school diploma/GED. • Minimum four years of relevant work experience. • Proven leadership ability to mentor, coach, and manage a team. • Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and qualitative skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication for varied business situations. • Ability to manage multiple overlapping projects independently. • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, V‑lookups, macros). • Knowledge of Waste Management services and systems is a plus.
