About the Role

HDR’s Water/Wastewater Engineer is responsible for designing treatment plant systems, coordinating multidisciplinary efforts, and overseeing project execution from conception through construction. • Develop comprehensive designs for water and wastewater treatment plants, including hydraulic calculations and water‑quality analysis. • Prepare project scopes, schedules, budgets, and technical specifications. • Coordinate design activities with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, and contractors. • Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction inspections. • Provide value‑engineering solutions and serve as project manager on water/wastewater assignments. • Perform quality‑control reviews of completed designs and mentor junior staff. • Travel locally at least once a month for site supervision and regionally or nationally up to four times per year for conferences.

What You Bring

The position requires an advanced civil or environmental engineering degree combined with relevant water/wastewater experience, and welcomes both licensed and unlicensed candidates. The role involves regular travel for site supervision and occasional conference attendance, and candidates must clear background and drug testing. • Require either a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience or a Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience in civil/environmental engineering. • Experience must include infrastructure projects, biological, physical, and chemical treatment processes, statistical analysis, AutoCAD, and MS Excel. • Professional Engineer licensure is not required; both licensed and unlicensed candidates are considered. • Subject to background checks and pre‑employment drug testing.
