About the Role
• Coordinate electrical work projects on the building site. • Ensure high-quality installation of underground cabling, overhead lines, and substation construction. • Review drawings, constructability, submittals and provide feedback to engineering, verifying material and workmanship quality. • Partner with the senior superintendent on formwork selection, equipment sizing, site utilization, schedule development and three‑week look‑ahead planning. • Supply resources and supervise quality control for both self‑performed and subcontracted work teams. • Manage the interface for connecting the project power grid to the existing distribution system. • Supervise installation, splicing and termination of fiber optic cables. • Attend project meetings and act as liaison between field engineers, contractors and craft workers. • Implement the Mortenson Project Quality Plan and develop project control logs, QC documentation, and electrical Integrated Work Instructions. • Oversee electrical subcontractors, monitoring procurement, methods, staffing, look‑ahead schedules and coordination with other site activities. • Ensure timely transmission of plans, specifications, submittals and RFIs to subcontractors. • Monitor safety, quality and efficiency of subcontracted work. • Coach, mentor and train field personnel, forepersons and assistant superintendents. • Enforce the Mortenson Zero Injury Program. • Produce reports such as sequence of operation instructions and Methods of Operation (MOPs). • Provide work direction, conduct performance evaluations and foster a teamwork environment. • Participate in hiring, discipline and dismissal decisions as needed. • Manage open‑shop and union issues. • Maintain relationships with site visitors including customers, architects, union representatives and subcontractors. • Optimize site logistics and suggest improvements.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to coordinate, plan, and supervise electrical activities on construction sites. The role requires interaction with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment while maintaining flexibility, professionalism, and confidentiality. The superintendent will lead assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft crews within the electrical discipline. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. • Minimum 12 years experience with high and medium voltage equipment, cable installation, transmission/collection lines and substation construction. • Minimum 15 years supervisory experience. • Knowledge of NESC, NEC, IEEE, NEMA, OSHA codes and industry safety standards. • Basic understanding of wind turbine construction and related code requirements. • Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem‑solving and leadership skills. • Detail‑oriented with ability to manage multiple project tasks. • Understanding of construction law and business practices. • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, project‑management and web applications. • Positive professional attitude and strong customer service skills. • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies. • Expertise in installation, testing, acceptance, maintenance and repair of high and medium voltage cables. • Familiarity with cable testing methods such as current injection, Hi‑pot, capacitance discharge, contact resistance, Megger, TTR and Doble. • Knowledge of electrical drawings, underground duct banks, trenching, manholes, vaults, pad‑mount transformers, SCADA systems, transmission line construction, testing and commissioning, and substation construction. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel. • Visa sponsorship is not offered; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

The base salary for this position ranges from $142,800 to $214,200, with higher rates for locations like Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C.
