About the Role

The Heavy Equipment – Preventive Maintenance (PM) Maintenance Technician performs preventive maintenance service on all types of trucks and equipment, including diesel and non‑diesel, to maximize safe and productive operations. The primary purpose of this role is to focus on preventative maintenance and other mechanic‑type tasks and services. Key duties include performing preventative maintenance and basic repairs on electrical, diesel, and gasoline vehicles such as compactors, excavators, wheel loaders, and other equipment to ensure safe and productive operations. The technician inspects trucks and heavy equipment for condition, operation, fluid levels, identifies problems, power washes equipment as necessary, checks, fills and changes appropriate fluids, greases, oils and lubricates components, and performs adjustments to various systems during service. Additional tasks involve maintaining and changing air, oil, coolant, and fuel filters, performing cooling‑system maintenance, checking safety equipment, inspecting tires according to Republic Services Tire Maintenance Standards, and completing paperwork that documents parts usage and work order times. The technician also records daily consumables, drives equipment in and out of the repair area, follows all safety policies and procedures, and performs other job‑related duties as assigned.

What You Bring

Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and word‑processing applications, are required. Technicians may be required to complete the Republic PM Program, the One Fleet Republic Way program, or other relevant training. A Mechanical Trade School certificate or degree is preferred. A minimum of one year of experience in a technician position that requires knowledge and application of OSHA HazCom, OSHA Lock Out Tag Out, and all OSHA fire‑protection regulations is required.
