About the Role
• Lead and support electrical aspects of construction projects. • Design optimal collection system layouts considering overhead/underground, road, and junction constraints. • Review manufacturer data for wiring, grounding, power factor, lightning protection, and generator requirements. • Verify construction conforms to electrical design drawings and conduct QA/QC meetings. • Manage electrical design and equipment procurement through submittals, transmittals, and RFIs. • Provide technical expertise to all project stakeholders. • Ensure subcontractors understand scope during bidding and support them throughout the project. • Coordinate grid interconnection with local utilities. • Perform loss calculations for full‑output and annualized performance. • Create one‑line diagrams and standard construction details for collection systems and substations. • Maintain relationships with site visitors, architects, union representatives, and subcontractors. • Optimize site logistics and suggest improvements. • Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels. • Lead by example, coach team members, give feedback, and manage performance.

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer I to provide electrical technical support throughout construction projects in California. This role requires 100% travel, with assignments moving to new projects upon completion of each. Mortenson offers career-long employment rather than project‑specific contracts. Benefits
The base pay range for this position is $102,000 to $137,700, with higher ranges for locations such as Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C.
