About the Role

The Job Cost Accountant is responsible for managing cost accounting for assigned construction projects, ensuring accurate posting of expenses, and supporting billing and financial close processes. The role works closely with project managers and subcontractors to resolve budgeting issues, monitor compliance, and maintain organized financial records. • Post and code project‑related costs to ensure accuracy and compliance. • Prepare progress billings, including schedules of values, change orders, and retainage. • Track and reconcile project budgets, commitments, and cost variances. • Assist in creating and reviewing work‑in‑progress (WIP) schedules. • Verify subcontractor compliance with insurance, lien waivers, and contract terms. • Collaborate with project managers to address cost, billing, and budget discrepancies. • Support monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close activities and audit documentation. • Maintain comprehensive and organized project financial records.

What You Bring

The position requires extensive travel, with 80‑100% of time spent on site visits, pre‑bid meetings, and subcontractor coordination, while remaining primarily office‑based. It operates in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven pre‑construction environment. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 3–7 years of construction accounting experience. • Demonstrate proficiency with construction accounting software such as Sage, ADP, and BuildOps, and advanced Excel skills. • Understand percentage‑of‑completion accounting and WIP reporting; CPA designation preferred. • Travel 80–100% of the time for site visits, pre‑bid meetings, and subcontractor coordination.
