About the Role
The role focuses on discovering and implementing new solutions that leverage automation, storage, distributed energy resources, smart meters, analysis tools, and other modern grid technologies to meet evolving operational and customer needs. The engineer will provide technical guidance for strategic plans that build, operate, and maintain a reliable, resilient, smart, flexible, and clean grid. Key responsibilities include delivering professional engineering services, evaluating emerging technologies, preparing cost estimates, and developing strategies and pilot projects for senior management. The engineer will build interdepartmental consensus, lead or coordinate project teams and contractors, review internal and external engineering work, and communicate solutions to diverse audiences in verbal and written forms. Additional duties involve ensuring code and design compliance, supporting emergency response, and fostering technical leadership throughout the organization.

What You Bring
The successful candidate will collaborate with cross‑functional teams in IT, Operations, Planning, Engineering, and Customer Care to gather requirements and identify business needs for smart‑grid technologies. The position requires a broad background in planning, design, and operations across transmission, distribution, protection, automation, control systems, generation, metering, telecommunications/SCADA, and IT. Safety compliance and a culture of total safety are integral to the role, and employees are expected to act ethically and adhere to regulatory obligations. • Bachelor of Science degree or PE license in electrical, mechanical, civil, or related engineering field. • 8+ years of experience in planning, design, specification preparation, technical field work, project cost estimating, and scheduling. • Demonstrated organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills. • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities. • Experience working within the utility industry. • Possession of a Professional Engineering License. • Ability to collaborate with a wide range of internal and external customers. • Knowledge and experience with emerging grid technologies. • Experience leading or managing interdepartmental teams. • Strong written and oral presentation skills. • Knowledge of engineering economics and utility accounting practices. • Experience working on complex engineering projects.

The position offers a salary range of $108,200 to $180,200, eligibility for annual incentive bonuses, and a comprehensive total rewards package.
