About the Role
The Capture Lead / Bid Director role sits within AECOM’s Water business, part of the Strategy and Growth team in the UK and Ireland. The position is accountable for shaping, capturing, and successfully bidding major contracts—typically £35 million plus—in regulated water, strategic resource, and climate resilience sectors. The incumbent will lead large, multidisciplinary bid teams, define execution strategies, manage risk and pricing, and build consortiums to deliver compelling proposals. • Drive growth by shaping and capturing new business and renewal opportunities in priority water accounts. • Develop and own holistic capture plans, including client listening, win strategy, solution shaping, and marketing coordination. • Build and lead strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and consortiums to strengthen bid competitiveness. • Establish senior‑level client relationships and lead executive engagement throughout the procurement cycle. • Set commercial direction for major pursuits, overseeing risk appetite, pricing, and value proposition. • Provide strategic leadership to bid teams, influencing internal stakeholders to align resources and priorities.

What You Bring
The role is based in Liverpool, UK, with a hybrid work arrangement, and reports to the Water business within AECOM’s DCS group. Candidates who meet the essential criteria or possess transferable skills are invited to apply, with additional support available through the Disability Confident Interview Scheme. • Demonstrated experience leading teams to win large‑scale water utility contracts (typically $35 m+ revenue). • Proven track record of managing complex, multi‑disciplinary pursuit strategies across multiple locations. • Strong technical background with ability to translate client drivers into differentiated bid solutions. • Excellent communication and facilitation skills for workshops with diverse stakeholder groups. • Experience in partner‑led delivery models, including alliances and joint ventures. • Credibility operating at executive and board level with clients, partners, and senior internal leaders. • Sound commercial judgement and strategic thinking to balance risk, value, and long‑term positioning. • In‑depth knowledge of the UK water regulatory environment and public sector water sector.
