Lead drainage design and stormwater management for civil/transport projects in Doha.

About the Role
You will be responsible for civil and transport infrastructure drainage design, including detailed analysis and review of hydrological and hydraulic models. You will provide technical design expertise for drainage and stormwater quality systems, such as piped networks and major transverse drainage structures, and promote a leading digital work environment. The role includes hydraulic and system design to meet site‑specific requirements, applying knowledge of biological and physical stormwater processes, and delivering innovative, value‑engineered solutions. You will supervise and mentor intermediate and junior engineers, ensure QA/QC of deliverables, and undertake hydrologic modeling, calculations, drawings, report writing, design review, and supervision. Additionally, you will lead projects, build strong client relationships, obtain design approvals, and coordinate with CAD/BIM/3‑D modeling teams. • Design civil and transport drainage systems and conduct hydrologic/hydraulic analyses. • Provide technical expertise for stormwater quality systems and implement digital delivery tools. • Supervise, mentor, and ensure QA/QC for junior engineers and project deliverables. • Lead projects, manage client relationships, and secure design approvals. • Coordinate with CAD/BIM/3‑D modeling teams for integrated designs. • Utilize software such as SWMM, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, Infoworks ICM, GIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation. • Apply Water Sensitive Design and Sustainable Drainage Design principles.

What You Bring
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Drainage Engineer to join our team in Doha, Qatar. In this role you will work across a wide variety of projects and further develop your skills and leadership expertise. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Hydraulic, Hydrology, Water, or Environmental Engineering and at least 12 years of water engineering experience are required. You must have strong knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics, and be proficient with modeling and design software such as SWMM, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, Infoworks ICM (1D/2D), GIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation. Experience creating calculation sheets, knowledge of Water Sensitive Design and Sustainable Drainage Design (SuDS), and excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills are essential. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or progress toward qualification, a collaborative team‑player attitude, and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet timelines are also required. A Master’s degree in Water Engineering or Hydrology is an advantage, as is experience working in Doha or other GCC countries and familiarity with local standards. Experience automating design workflows using AI chatbots, Python, Ruby, VBA, Dynamo, or Grasshopper is also desirable. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field and 12+ years of water engineering experience. • Possess Chartered Engineer (CEng) qualification or be progressing toward it. • Demonstrate strong communication, organization, and multi‑project management skills. • Advantageous: Master’s degree, GCC project experience, and automation skills (AI, Python, VBA, etc.).
